My Occ Health Record (MOHR) is a versatile platform that not only securely collects and stores employee health data but also can turn static data into real-time insights.

The proprietary software gives employers and employees the comfort of knowing they have 24/7 access to their health data; detailed reporting; and business insights, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their health and the health of the workforce as a collective.

The Problem

After 20 years of experience within the health industry, the My Occ Health Record (MOHR) team recognised the need to manage employee health data better.

Some of the common issues within the health industry that need to be addressed are the duplication of data and the chance for human errors, eliminating the use of printed and handwritten assessments, the ability to share data across platforms securely, improving the probability of accurate diagnoses, and wide-reaching effects on medical studies and tracking the spread of pandemics.

My Occ Health Record was in the MVP stage and needed to develop and refine new features to create an offering sufficient for clients looking to manage employee health data. Additionally, as the user base increased, they needed to address platform resiliency and scalability.


The Goal

Build an industry first tech-platform and empower employers to understand and manage the health of their workforce and achieve better health outcomes.

Provide employers and employees with an easy-to-use and accessible central hub with a secure method for collecting, managing, storing, and analysing all employee health data - providing oversight and compliance at all times.











My Involvement

My Occ Health Record was in the MVP stage when I was hired as an end-to-end senior designer on this project. They had an existing design, but it needed some restructuring and a visual boost to take it to the next level.

I was asked to help rethink the user interface without changing too much functionality. This usually means UI elements could be modified, but no significant difference in user behaviour would be required. This resulted in a simplified navigation flow, a refined colour palette, a minimalistic look, balanced iconography, a clean appearance, and a lot of white space was applied for better information scanning.


I worked alongside the head of product, the head of engineering, a business analyst, and an international team of software developers beginning from discovery, moving to design, and ending with a developer-ready handover.

I conducted research, created wireframes, ideation (sketches), user flows, and interactive prototypes to validate concepts, material design, high-fidelity designs, was involved in user testing, led workshops involving the managing director and key stakeholders from My Occ Health Record, and worked daily with developers to implement designs.

















Biggest Challenge

Working with an organisation transitioning from a traditional waterfall method to an agile methodology was a constant challenge as I would have to consistently advocate for user experience design up and across the chain of stakeholders.

In addition to this, the project involved working with an offshore international team, requiring us to bridge a cultural divide while simultaneously managing design and technical matters.


Results

My Occ Health Record's popularity has increased since its launch in 2020. Our team crafted a suite of easy-to-use tools that are now part of the daily workflow for many businesses nationwide. Our team continues to grow and iteratively upgrade our website and tools to ensure maximum utility.

As the demand for digital health solutions continues to increase, My Occ Health Record is perfectly poised to provide the most comprehensive set of services to meet the needs of customers.


Impact

Since its launch in 2020, My Occ Health Record has partnered with over 18 companies, including the Australian Football League (AFL), to provide its customers with the best possible experience managing their occupational health data.

My Occ Health Record was rated 3rd on the AFR Most Innovative Health Companies for 2020, a testament to our team's hard work and dedication to providing the best healthcare innovation and technology.
